The House of Representatives has sworn in Elegbeji as the new member representing Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo federal constituency of Ogun state
The House of Representatives on Thursday swore in Rep. Adesola Elegbeji as the new member representing Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo Federal Constituency of Ogun State.
Elegbeji, who emerged winner of the August by-election, replaced the late Rep. Adewunmi Onanuga, who passed away after a prolonged illness. The oath of office was administered by the Clerk of the House during plenary.
Her swearing-in followed similar exercises earlier in the week when the Clerk of the House, administered the oath of office to Rep. Omosede Igbinedion (Ovia Federal Constituency, Edo State), Rep. Rabiu Mukhtar (Garki/Babura Federal Constituency, Jigawa State), and Rep. Fidelix Bagudu (Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State).

In a related development, the Senate on Wednesday also inaugurated two newly elected lawmakers- Joseph Ikpea and Nwachukwu Chibuzor representing Edo central and Anambra south senatorial districts, respectively.
Senator Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC) succeeds Monday Okpebholo, who vacated his seat after his election as Governor of Edo State in November 2024, while Senator Chibuzor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) replaces the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who died in July 2024 in a London hospital.
