Three Kaduna members in the House of Representatives defected from PDP to APC, citing party crisis and support for Tinubu’s agenda
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives on Tuesday suffered a setback as three of its members from Kaduna State defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers who crossed over are Rep. Abdulkarim Ahmed (Kaduna south federal constituency), Rep. Aliyu Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau federal constituency), and Rep. Sadiq Abdullahi (Sabon Gari federal constituency).
Their letters of defection were read by Speaker of the House, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary. The lawmakers attributed their decision to internal crises within the PDP.
The defectors pledged full support for President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and to foster unity and sustainable development in Kaduna state under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani.
“We are fully committed to supporting President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and to promoting unity and sustainable development in Kaduna State,” the lawmakers said.
The defection was witnessed by Governor Uba Sani, who was present in the chamber to welcome the lawmakers into the APC fold.
