The appointment follows the passing of Rep. Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State. She passed away on January 15, 2025 after a brief illness.

During the February 4, 2025, plenary session, the House adjourned proceedings in her honor. In a symbolic tribute, her seat in the front row was covered in white, marking the chamber’s respect for her service and legacy.
