The House of Representatives has sworn in three newly elected members from Edo, Jigawa, and Kaduna States to fill existing vacant seats
The House of Representatives on Tuesday administered the oath of office to three newly elected members from Edo, Jigawa, and Kaduna States to fill existing vacancies in the green chamber.
The new lawmakers Omosede Igbinedion for Ovia federal constituency, Edo state, Rabiu Mukhtar for Garki/Babura federal constituency, Jigawa state, and Fidelix Bagudu for Chikun/Kajuru federal constituency, Kaduna state were sworn in during plenary by the Clerk of the House.
Their emergence followed the by-elections conducted in August by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacant seats.

Five seats in the House became vacant earlier due to a combination of resignations and deaths among serving members.
The Ovia federal constituency seat in Edo became vacant following the resignation of Rep. Dennis Idahosa, who was elected as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. In Jigawa, the Garki/Babura seat was declared vacant after the death of Rep. Isa Dogonyaro, while the Chikun/Kajuru seat in Kaduna became vacant following the passing of Rep. Ekene Adams.
Two additional lawmakers-elect Fola Oyekunle (Ibadan North federal constituency, Oyo state) and Adesola Elegbeji (Ikenne/Shagamu/Remo federal constituency, Ogun state)Â are yet to be sworn in.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, who presided over the session, congratulated the new members in handshakes.
