At the center of the controversy is a post saying Natasha believed being a lawmaker was merely about “pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers.”
Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has filed a defamation lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The suit, lodged at the Federal Capital Territory High Court on February 25, 2025, also names the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, as the second and third defendants. Identified as case CV/737/25, the legal action was initiated by Natasha’s lawyer, Victor Giwa, who claims that defamatory statements made by Akpabio were published by his aide on Facebook.
At the center of the controversy is a post titled “Is the Local Content Committee of the Senate Natasha’s Birthright?” The post included a statement suggesting that Natasha believed being a lawmaker was merely about “pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers.”
Giwa argued that the statement was defamatory, insulting, and damaging to his client’s reputation, portraying her in a negative light before her colleagues and the general public.
He stated, “A DECLARATION that the words, ‘It is bottled anger by the Kogi lawmaker, who knows nothing about legislative rules. She thinks being a lawmaker is all about pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers,’ used and written by the third defendant at the prompting of the first and second defendants, is defamatory and intended to cause public opprobrium and disaffection toward the claimant.”
As part of her demands, Natasha is seeking “an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, whether acting by themselves or through their agents, privies, assigns, or associates, from further publishing or causing to be published the said defamatory words or any similar publications about the claimant on social media or in any other manner capable of defaming her.”
Additionally, she is requesting that the court order the defendants to pay N100 billion in general damages and N300 million in litigation costs.

Parliament Reports recalls that a dispute over a seat change last Thursday led to a heated exchange on the senate floor involving Sen. Natasha.
Following this development, Natasha was absent from today’s plenary session. Despite her absence, the senate deliberated extensively on the matter and subsequently referred it to the Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions Committee for further legislative action.
As part of the process, Natasha has been summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee, which is expected to submit its report within two weeks.
