Senate declines confirmation of 3 Ministerial nominees, confirms 45

One week after its commencement of screening for the President’s nominees for the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the Senate has concluded the exercise

The Senate has confirmed the nomination of forty-five (45) Minister-Designates sent to the National Assembly for screening by President Bola Tinubu.

The development took place late Monday following the completion of screening for the forty-eight (48) nominees and a voice vote on each of the nominations in a session presided over by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.

According to Akpabio, the three nominees; Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) Sani Abubakar Danladi (Taraba) and Stella Okotete (Delta) who have not been confirmed due to “security clearance.”

The Senate has now adjourned till 8:30pm following a motion by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele.
