There has been a political realignment in the House of Representatives as eight members changed party affiliations at the first plenary session after weeks of recess from plenary.
The Speaker Rep. Tajudeen Abbas announced their defections on Tuesday.
The six members from Delta State include: Rep. Victor Nwokolo, Rep. Julius Pondi, Rep. Thomas Ereyitomi, Rep. Nicholas Mutu who is the longest serving member in the House since 1999, Rep. Ukodhiko Jonathan, and Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi.
While the defectors from Enugu state are Rep. Mark Obetta and Rep. Dennis Nnamdi.
Giving the reason for their defection, the lawmakers cited an unresolved crisis within party and parallel leadership in the state and decided to quit after due consultations.
Parliament Report recalls that two weeks ago the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the former Governor and 2023 Vice presidential candidate of PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa, left the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress.
