RemTrack, an OrderPaper initiative, is designed to track remediation efforts in Nigeria’s extractive sector and its interconnected areas, including oil and gas, solid minerals, energy transition, climate change, beneficial ownership, and host communities. Since its inception in 2019, RemTrack has received significant support from NEITI.Â
The RemTrack platform (web and mobile) simplifies the tracking of issues and the implementation of recommendations from NEITI’s periodic audits, making the process more accessible and engaging for stakeholders in the industry. By utilizing data from NEITI audits, RemTrack translates complex audit information into easily understandable infographics, a practice that has been ongoing for over five years. This aligns with the global EITI’s drive to use data and technology to promote transparency and accountability.
During the visit, the OrderPaper team and NEITI representatives discussed potential new features for the RemTrack platform and explored ways to leverage NEITI’s extensive datasets to inform public debate and policy making. NEITI’s support for RemTrack aligns with its broader mission to empower citizens with information and data to hold the government and extractive industry companies accountable.
