Bello Elrufai defects from APC to ADC

Member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and son of former Kaduna State governor, Rep. Bello El-Rufai, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The announcement was made on Thursday during plenary at the House of Representatives, where Speaker Abbas Tajudeen read letters of defection from the affected lawmakers.

According to the Speaker, Rep Bello El-Rufai joined the ADC alongside two lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Kaduna State — Umar Ajilo and Suleiman Yahaya Richifa.

Tajudeen also announced that Kamilu Ado, a lawmaker from Kano State, defected from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a related development, Rep. Joshua Obika, who represents the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, resigned from the APC and moved to the NDC. Obika had earlier defected from the Labour Party to the APC before his latest switch.

The lawmakers attributed their defections to internal crises and uncertainty within their former political parties.
